Default Mount specifications??

So where is there information on mounts? A telescope that wobbles and
vibrates all over the place isn't going to be much good.

You sound like a good candidate for a DOB:

First rule of Engineering = KISS=DOB

Why put the mount up in the air when it can sit right down on the solid
ground??

Termites? :-)

Put your Dob on the ground here in N. California and it'll be eaten alive
by morning. The original Dobs were in San Francisco on, I believe, concrete
sidewalks. Problem there (in SF) is twofold: the homeless would probably
urinate into a Dob, and others would think it's a trash receptacle and toss
their S'Mores into the open end and onto the primary.

Jesting and joshing aside, the original poster may have a need that is not well
satisfied using a Dob, such as long-exposure imaging.

Load ratings are available for nearly all mounts that aren't "white boxed".
The Vixens are (typically) under 20 pounds, the EQ6/Atlas claims 40 pounds,
the G11 is rated (IIRC) at 60 pounds, etc etc. Check the manufacturer's web
sites.
