Sad but true, you as an American have any objection to a private none
American individual going to Mars? :-

I am private, I am French, may I start a Mars program? :-)

Of course, Mars is wide open for the first human mission. Hmmm, be
interesting to see whose flag would be the first on the Martian
surface, the French tricolour or the Cross of Saint George, and on on
what date will it be raised, the Fourteenth of July or the twenty
third of April. ;-)

There are activities scalling as Moore's law, In 30 years you multiply your
initial bet by one million. Start with $ 100,000 and you end up with $ 100
billions, the Mars ticket price.

Ready to start the adventure?
5 years to build and test a 70 kN motor.
+2 years to build a first private, non commercial launcher and test a 900 kN
motor.
+5 years to build a 30 motors launcher wth the second motor.
+2 years to pack 5 bodies of the second launcher (200 t in LEO)...
