Hello,

I want to get into astrophotography but would like to know which route

would
be better. I would like to do planetary and deepsky photography but I want
to make one purchase that would cover both. Thanks.

Hi Barry,

One camera for both duties is going to be a compromise. Fortunately the best
solution for planetary work is also relatively cheap assuming you already
have a laptop. My advice is to get a webcam for planets (Phillips Toucam
Pro is the best) and a separate dedicated deepsky camera. If you want a
digital camera that you can use for deep sky work the Canon 300D/10D or
350D/20D are the most popular. Google for any of these cameras + astro and
you will find loads of examples of astro images taken with them
