Mt. Hood looms much larger were I am living now. Many things there are named after it: Mt. Hood Community College, The Hood Theater, and Hood Drive. Some things have been named after the east wind too, such as the East Wind Apartments. The east wind is the dominant wind there in the winter. In summer it is nice though, and stays a little cooler than downtown Portland.

Today I am back over in the Cedar Mills Library, since I don't have my Multnomah County library card yet. After lunch with Kim downtown, I came up here. It is currently 51F here with a slight sprinkling of rain starting. Should be dry again in a couple day.

A few days ago I walked over to the Mt. Hood Community College campus. I spent 2 years in school there. Much has changed, but old memories still remain.

"The years run too short and the days too fast
The things you lean on are the things that don't last
Well it's just now and then my line gets cast into these
Time passages
There's something back here that you left behind
Oh time passages
Buy me a ticket on the last train home tonight

A girl comes towards you
You once used to know
You reach out your hand
But you're all alone, in these
Time passages
I know you're in there, you're just out of sight
Time passages
Buy me a ticket on the last train home tonight" - Al Stewart

At first I felt a little lost, but then I came upon a spot I clearly remembered. It was where I had gone out there and watched a speech by then President Jimmy Carter in the late 70's. He was the first President I had seen in person! A helicopter brought him in, and Iranian students hiding their faces were demonstrating against the Shaw of Iran.

I finally found the lake that they made by damming up the local creek. I once drove a car across that dam! But if I were to try it now, I would run into a fence. I now must give up any hope of wetting a line in that trout stocked pond, as fishing is now limited to those under 17. Well, that's how I always thought it should be.

I found the basketball court with the dome shaped roof. It is a paraboloid shaped roof which gives an interesting echoic effect at its center. They have wisely covered much of the ceiling with acoustic tile.

There used to be tables and chairs on the east side where students could sit. But now it's all basketball floor. That's were I used to sit and talk with Greta and Susan in those pleasant times.

"The day is here,
The time has come
When I go see my darling love.
But why is she not here today
Where she has always been before?
I wait for you,
But you come not. - AA

I went to the corner of Kane Dr. and Stark St. to look for the stone mile post marker for mile 14 from Portland. It was there back in 1969 when I checked. This were set down every mile along Stark about 150 years ago. Stark led to the Stark St. Ferry, which was the only way to cross the Willamette River back then, before they built the bridges in Portland. The Community College has put up a sign at that corner and surrounded it with rocks and other landscaping. But no sign of the historic mile stone. You would think that the administrators of a college of all people would have some respect for history!

AA will try Cragslist Monday. If I take that offer and Sell M&M I will move futher west to Hawaii. I think that might be a good plan. All my kids live in Massachusetts and they would love to visit me in Hawaii.Leaving MA. my daughter said saved my life 9feet of snow WOW. Weather today in LA is great warm sunny and no wind. Will be off to Huntington Beach as soon as I finish up a little business. Stayed in my van the last 5 days. Redid its M&M sighs. Bert

Tip: Make sure whatever noncompete agreement you sign when you sell does NOT extend to Hawaii!

Another cloudy day here in Gresham. Had showers yesterday and they are still possible today. Temp only 59F as of 12:30 here in Gresham. Might get over 60F if only the sun would come out. Yesterday it didn't and the temp stayed under 60F. Warmer weather and sunshine is expected later in the week.

Went downtown to the clinic yesterday. The Rose Festival Fun Center has opened in Waterfront Park. The Multnomah County Fair starts today in Oaks Park.

Bought some vegetables that I don't usually see in the store at the Farmers Market outside outside the library today. Price was good.

AA You always gave me good advice. The offer to buy M&M was made by this corporate lawyer that wanted me to put it puplic and sell shares. I put him off,but when I sign papers I will have a lawyer with me.I have not told my kids yet. At 87 see how my health goes.So far so good. Bert

Bert, I'm sure you know what you're doing in business.

Here it is again, a Sunday morning. I see lots of cars parked down the street outside the church, but we few are gathered here again at the temple of knowledge.

A pall seems to hang over Gresham, blocking out the sun until the holiday weekend is over. Right now it's cloudy and 56F as of 10:30 AM. Still weathermen promise sunny skies and warmer temperatures later this week.

AA Just about the same weather here at 8;30 Been cloudy each morning for the month of May. My kids tell me Boston is Hot,and cold Doing work on van to keep busy.Wish I knew how to get M&M on Craigslist better. I don't feel like riding out to Huntington Beach, but don't know how to get out of that dinner invite. to cold to sail, and to windy to paint. I'm still afraid of the freeways. If I crack up the van its like losing your home. AA are you still thinking of a car.If you had a car I could set you up in a small business that is light work, and would add $$$$$ to your SS check. It just needs flyers and a cross street directory to drum up work.No need to worry about taxes. Think like a GOPer. Getting out gives you a chance to meet people(ladies) Think about it. Bert

Sunny here in Gresham this morning, but still lots of clouds. 61F now at 11:15 AM, but can only hope for 68F later.

Getting a car means a lot of additional expense: gas, oil, insurance, DEQ and licensing, repairs and maintenance, tires, and getting a driver's license. Believe me I am just barely scraping by now. I need to find an additional source of income before I can afford a car. I am thinking of getting back into the selling on eBay business!

Yesterday I bought a Dell laptop!
