Not really sure why half mile size makes any difference at all.
Especially as a 1/2 mile asteroid is quite small in compared to many
others.

You are in no more danger if you are not hit by a locomotive, as you
are from not being hit by a sparrow.

And if you are hit,.... it's the speed at which you are hit that
really is what you have to worry about.




Yes, because a half mile asteroid hitting your skull at 50km/hr is very
different to 1,000 km/hr.









Well DUH. at that point it doesn't matter if it's a half mile or half a
foot.
So again, why is the size the only relevant feature ?

BTW many objects in space are generally traveling more in the multi-Km per
second range. which even makes gun bullets slow in comparison.
