Not really sure why half mile size makes any difference at all.
Especially as a 1/2 mile asteroid is quite small in compared to many
others.

You are in no more danger if you are not hit by a locomotive, as you are
from not being hit by a sparrow.

And if you are hit,.... it's the speed at which you are hit that really is
what you have to worry about.
