Let's suppose, just for a second, that someone did indeed supress usable
(more juice out than in) fusion reactor technology (after all, there are
functional fusion reactors around already).

Why would they do such a thing? Surely having a 50-year head-start on all
the other fusion reactor projects would allow them to get loads of patents
out and make a mint on selling the tech to power companies?
