The 09/10 rainy season in Central California has been less than kind
to astrophotography. It started a month early and seems to want to
continue into May.
I read someplace that on a clear dry night the astronomer is still
observing/imaging through 30 gallons of water. Since mid Septermber
2009, I've been imaging from the bottom of a swimming pool.
This image of M 97 was taken during the only brief period of above
average seeing/transparency since last September.

count your blessings on the rain: more water in the reservoirs and longer
time until it gets unbearably hot in the central valley/sierra....
we're in Mariposa county near Hornitos. 105F is pretty typical in the
summer...
No SBIG cameras perform well in that heat!
