That is, it always seemed no time before the front wheel edge
flattened and then deteriorated further into a large irreparable
hole, thus dooming the thing to an inevitable, static, and
sun-bleached death in a seldom-mowed area of the
backyard...

They should've been, and should be still manufactured with
at least...semi-solid wheels; much thicker in any case.
