US slow to respond to lessons of japan
Perhaps that's because we don't have a lot of plants that are subject
to 8+ magnitude earthquakes followed by meter 10 tsunamis.
oh really how about along the west coast? The NRC admitted publically
we have plants at the same risks
Yeah, really. *When was the last time we saw 9.0 earthquake combined
with a 15 meter tsunami anywhere on the west coast? *How about
'never'?
Just what IS the largest offshore earthquake and the largest tsunami
ever to occur off the west coast anywhere near any nuclear plant,
Bobbert?
You talk a lot of ****e, but you're always real light on the facts.
Now's your chance. *Try making a REAL case with REAL facts and REAL
probabilities.
even you should of heard of the san andreas fault. how about the san
francisco earthquake
Yep. *The San Andreas fault is on LAND until you get to the northern
sector and doesn't generally create tsunamis. *You should go look at
the geologic history of 'the Ring of Fire' and get a clue about this
stuff.
The San Francisco earthquake was under an 8. *Keep in mind that the
earthquake scale is logarithmic, so that means even the massive 1906
San Francisco earthquake only had around 10% of the energy of the one
at Fukashima. *And keep in mind that it is the TSUNAMI on top of the
earthquake that was the problem at Fukashima. *Without the tsunami,
everything would have been fine. *Despite having an epicenter that was
offshore, there was no massive tsunami accompanying the San Francisco
earthquake. *Ok, there WAS a tsunami, but it was only about 3 INCHES
high.
So, let's try again:
Just what IS the largest offshore earthquake and the largest tsunami
ever to occur off the west coast anywhere near any nuclear plant,
Bobbert? *Please give epicenter location and nearest nuclear facility,
strength of the earthquake, and height of the tsunami that followed.
You talk a lot of ****e, but you're always real light on the facts.
Now's your chance. *Try making a REAL case with REAL facts and REAL
probabilities.
Not Chicken Little arm waving, like what you just did.
