Default mid 80's White Custom built C8

Anyone know anything about this particular model? Is $1000 a reasonable
asking price?

Hi:

Assuming it hasn't been monkeyed with in some manner, sure is. For more info,
go to my website at the url below and take a look at my Used SCT Guide. I've
got a writeup in there on this very scope. If you've got any specific questions
not answered there, let me know.

I wouldn't call this "custom." Maybe semi-custom, whatever that means. :-)
Celestron made quite a few considering the relatively short period of time the
scope was on sale. At least 100 were sold to colleges, museums, etc., and no
doubt a similar number went to private individuals. The scope was never overly
popular, however. Why? Because it was always almost as expensive as a C10.

Fair price? 500 - 1000 dollars, with the low end being OTA only, and the high
end the complete setup in decent shape.

Peace,
