Yes, it's a hold over from the "old days" when text terminals were
physically limited to 80 columns in width, but it's still a p.i.t.a. to
have to scroll to the right in a "real newsreader" to read posts that
are formatted this way. :-P


My 'real newsreader' will autowrap what I read if it hasn't already
been formatted. That said, I still prefer postings that are set up to
not exceed 72 characters per line (so I get reasonable looking quotes
when I read replies to them).
