do note they never tried to get a long term contract up till now....

ULA was trying to get one last feed at the government $$$ trough.....

Hopefully musk is successful. The falcon could use launch boost escape for the high priced satellite. Or at 1/4 the cost of ULA expect to lose a payload but still be ahead money wise
