Going by the historical precedent it would mean that boys would
actually comprise the majority of US high school graduates for the
first time in recorded history (well: second time, this time),
instead of just the majority of its under-18 population; that
science and test scores would shoot up; college attendance
would skyrocket; color TV would finally come into common use;
the Internet would come into being; and the US would get all
sorts of really cool weapons to blast the living crap out of
evereone else with, after spending the Commies into submission
20 years after the scare.
