Default Imagine if China were to beat USA back to moon / mars....

In article , says...

That would be worse than sputnic hysteria? And then what about the
Cheeze? The moon would suddenly be made of Tofu...what a let down that
would be! Imagine then a few token Americans and europeans brought
along with everyone else speaking incomprehensible mandarin and the
space agency named "=AA=A9=BA=86=BA=AA=83=BA=AA=A9=FE=F0=A9=AA=E5=AE= A9"
Hey THATS EVEN SCARIER THAN THE RUSSIANS OUT DOING USA AND NASA!

NOW IMAGINE THIS: THE CHINESE GETTING TO MARS FIRST AND BUILDING A
GREAT WALL YOU CAN SEE FROM OUTER SPACE!

i THINK WE SHOULD LET THE MARTIANS VOTE ON WHO TAKES OVER BEFORE ANYONE
BOTHERS.

Well I don't think the Chinese or the Russians are going to beat us
back to the moon, given the latest information we have obtained.

However, I have read recently an article which compared the Russian
space endeavers with the American endeavers at NASA and quite
frankly the Russians appear to have done more and better with less,
as difficult as that may be to imagine.

The Chinese are having some huge successes lately in space exploration
as well with several successful missions of late.

Unfortunately NASA's record of failure is quite distressing to the
point where statistically it is quite dangerous to climb aboard
an American space vehicle.

But they have been getting quite a bit of practice, sending rovers
to Mars. The views of the Martian terrain with its wide empty expanses
of rock and gravel that seem to go on for ever and ever and ever have
truly been breathtaking.

I haven't seen such intense imagery since I was a child, playing in the
backyard with my toy trucks, in the dirt by the rural road at the back
of our house.

It is easy to get overwhelmed by all these gravel pit like images
which have been coming back from so far away.

I can only repeat the words of Steve Squyres, Principal Investigator for
the MER effort from Cornell University when as tears of elation streamed down
his cheeks he said:

"I’m astonished,I’m blown away"

Here is an example of these breathtaking images below. Where you can
actually zoom in on the horizon itself.
