Cedar Amateurs under water !
Pal Dows is ok, just fine. The major roads are all closed
but back roads are still open. CedarRapids is a disaster of
epic proportions. Flood stage at Cedar Rapids was 12 feet.
The Cedar crested there today at 33 feet! The Cedar at
Ivanhoe Bridge on Highway #1 (below Mt Vernon) is almost
a mile wide (straight line) !!! It's a bloody lake and unreal.
I was there myself tonight. It is Ivanhoe Road just below that bridge
that goes west off Hwy #1 to Pal-Dows. I take
Hwy#1 out of Iowa City to get to Dows but I have back
roads at higher elevations I can take, so got there tonight.
The guys at Cedar Rapids takes Hwy #30 east to get to Dows.
Hwy #30 is now closed due to water, not sure how long.
I380 between ICity and CR has been closed at the Swisher exit. They say
there is now road damage and will be a week
before it can be reopened.
Tonight it was very peace. Just me and the cyotes and the
Boller Chivens Im working on ... all in the moonlight. Romantic! We do
have power.
We will make the best of this, one way or another. If you
know somebody who can lower the price of gas that would help!
Take care.
