I'm not saying that an increase in surface water temperature plays
no role,
it certainly does, but the article above presents an overly simplistic
argument.
It was a press release, they generally are simplifications of the
actual peer reviewed and published papers.
What is clear is that anything that comes out of the University of
Miami or the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, the
National Weather Service and the National Hurricane Center and their
primary researchers is highly suspect, as a quick perusal of Mr.
Wang's CV clearly illustrates. Large tracts of these agencies have
been corrupted by the Bush Administration, and it shows clearly by
any examination.
How some of this crap gets past peer review is worthy of investigation.

Horse****.
OMG you are so kewl!
According to you, your version is the only version that can be
proven. Just come out and say it as you PRETEND to be a scientist.
Scientists don't pretend to prove things, that's mathematics, sorry.
Science is a search for the truth, not a crusade against Bush, or
anything else. Imbeciles, such as yourself, would not recognize a
true statement, or legitimate research, because you have been 'born
again' and Al Gore is your Daddy. Now you must believe you are
right. Wrong. They issue PhD to anyone that can't gain employment
and stay in school for 8 years. I always said practicing scientists
with real world experience should be the ideal PhD candidates. It
would get rid of a lot a crusaders and the string theory in one day.
Is 25 years of field work in the Atlantic Ocean experience enough for
you? It works for me. This is simple thermodynamics we are talking
about, results that only a very clearly massaging of data by Landsea,
Peilke and Max Mayfield, William Gray, et al. can reduce to nonsense.
We know who the players are, now Wang has positioned himself with them.
Gee I wish they didn't teach "simple thermodynamics" any more.
"Heat" would do just fine to answer all these questions. Try "heat
capacity", "heat of fusion", "heat of vaporization" etc, and apply to
your subjects.
