Chris, I was interested in getting into radio meteor observing and am
looking for some receiver advice for use in the U.S. I preliminary
tried with a digital FM receiver and cannot seem to find a useable
free frequency in the 88Mhz band.
It seems that ROMB contributers are using ICOM models in the 50mhz
band - either a freestanding wideband receiver - or the ICOM PC
model. Both are pricey - around 800-1500 USD.
Q1: I was wondering if I would be able to detect meteor radio signals
using a cheaper receiver, like the small ALINCO DJ-X7T which comes
with a computer interface cable. That only costs around 200 USD.
Q2: In the US, we are now moving to HD TV signals. How does this
effect the best frequency used for detecting meteor radio signals?
Thanks, Canopus56
