ASTRO: Jupiter (series of pics)
For imaging so low on the horizon, we had some rather steady and good seeing
last night. I decided to try pretty much every option for planetary imaging
that I have with my scope and toucam 740k (a new firewire DBK should be here
Tuesday). The 2 set image was shot with a 2x barlow and 10fps. Pretty much
the standard setting. The 3 set image was shot with a 3x barlow and 5fps.
That would be a setting normally used for excellent seeing. The 5 set image
was shot with a 2x barlow at 5fps. If I could of shot more frames with the
3x5fps, I'm sure it would of yielded the best result. But, given I only
have about 2 minutes before the rotation of Jupiter comes into play, I had a
bare minimum number of frames to work with. The DBK will resolve that
problem hopefully. It was quite a challenge trying to get each set to match
up in color, contrast, noise, etc.
