Meade DSI + Heq5 (skywatcher) mount, autoguiding ?
Hi,
I am new in astrophot, just ordered the meade DSI II thinking how nice
and handy the autoguiding thing is. Now I read that this feature
[autoguiding] is available for LX200 users only with the DSI II (or
perhaps other meade mounts), I guess i will still be able to take some
pics. What I have:
* Heq5 pro mount: it has an autoguiding socket which I believe accepts
specific cables, not the one I use for goto from what the
documentation says and possibly not the meade cable which might be
coming with the DSI II (or maybe optional)
* a PC with USB 2 on which I will install the soft coming with the
DSI, it has already starry night and cartes du ciel, 2 of them work
fine on goto mode with ASCOM
* the DSI CCD which I will have and which will connect the PC via the
USB2 cable
How much will I be able to use of the Meade software coming with the
DSI which is nicely described by the movies on the meade website that
made me buy it:
1) do I need to use a specific cable between the PC and the mount, if
yes where should I find it (I don't have an iron solder) or what are
the references (I am in Europe)
2) should I use a specific software to do the autoguiding in parallel
of the use of the DSI soft which is used to take pics or can I use the
same meade soft for autoguiding as well.
3) do I really need autoguiding on the Heq5 or shall I use the sideral
movement only of the Heq5. Is that enough with the DSI or photograghs
will be of average quality compared to what they could be with
autoguiding (the selection of the guiding star seemed to be a nice
thing in the movies).
I am sure some of you have faced similar challenges, thanks for ur
help
