Default ASTRO:re Comet Mcnaught

Think I made a bit of a cock up with my post yesterday.
Kev had some doubts about the image and what he was seeing and we have had
a long discussion and I think the following is what happened.
After rushing home last night and observing the comet nucleus low in the
west with bins and my 80mm scope at around 1540 ut I spent rather longer
than I thought getting the camera gear together and had not realized that
the comet had probably been lost to view (I do not have a good western
horizon and its not helped by the airport only a few miles away in that
direction). The clouds were also building up again, and the only other
object of similar brightness in that part of the sky was Venus...
