There is the distinct possibility of a direct connection
between Man as Old as Coal and sci.space.history -- that is,
because of space travel.

No, I don't have to give it a thought. You are really reaching out on a
limb. Sci.space.history is about the history of modern, human,
exploration of space, where space is defined as what you get from about
100km up. It is not about UFOs, Aliens, Inner Space, etc. Why not
crosspost it to rec.music.rock? Afterall, the various bits of viscera
you found certainly look like rocks, and maybe those ancient humans
liked music.
