Bert! What are you doing up at this hour? Has the Bud truly run out?
Getting up to make an early morning run to Wal-Mart? Around here you
can't buy beer between the hours of 2 AM and 7 AM! Silly blue nose
laws still on the books! When I used to work the night shift it was
sometimes too late to get a drink after work. In those days they cut
off the beer at 1 AM! I contended they were discriminating against me
because of my job, because most other people could get a drink after
they got off work! I don't know why the have such silly laws. Do they
think drunks are too dumb to stock up to get them through the gap?
Hard liquor lounges used to have to close at 2:30 AM. Now they can
stay open till 3 AM. Some lock the doors and have after hours parties,
but if they get caught, they face severe fines from the liquor
commission. Sometimes liquor commission spies will leave an emergency
exit just ajar, and then sneak back in after hours to see whats going
on! What a system!
