I've been given some money in my paypal account from revver and am
thinking on buying some stuff. I noticed a planisphere at barnes and
noble localy that they had at $25 and i've seen a differetn one on ebay
for $15. can someone suggest if one or another is better?
For hardcore astro geeks, I recommend the Firefly Planisphere Deluxe
(about $35 to $40 U.S.). It's chock full of information, with a large
image scale. For something more compact and less intimidating, I also
like Sky and Telescope's planisphere (not the Night Sky edition), which
goes for about $15 U.S. It uses the same two-sided technique as the
Chandler planisphere, for those of you familiar with that one, but it
is easier on the eyes than the Chandler, in my opinion. (The Chandler
is somewhat easier to see in deep dark, though.)
A sampling of some of the available planispheres since the 1950s can
