I see the lizard blinks. I'm glad they didn't update the Gorn- they could
have easily done so with the model from "Enterprise". Other than the
soon-to-be-stock phaser and photon torpedo shots, what improvements were
made?

....Reportedly, this episode had some internal controversy. Half the
CGI team were calling for replacing the Gorn suit with the CGI Gorn
from the "Mirror Universe" episodes of "Enterprise", while the others
were siding with See-BS that it wasn't worth the cost of erasing the
Gorn, filling in the holes in the background, and then rendering a new
Gorn to match the action.

....Of course, the episode everyone is waiting for is "The Doomsday
Machine", just to compare it with that "remastered" version that was
being proposed to Paranoidmount ten years ago, when the CGI tech
wasn't anywhere near what it is today.

Even with my crappy broadcast signal, the colors are crisper than I've ever
seen, even on video.

....The capped eps that are showing up on the binary groups aren't
looking crisper where colors are concerned, alas. They're looking much
darker than the current DVD releases, and until these new remasterings
get released on DVD so a comparison can be made, the current DVD
versions are still superior WRT color depth and clarity.
