The Apollo 11 launch vehicle was a Saturn V, designated

Or AS-506 depending on which center you asked
Iain
By that stage they had sorted it out with a good compromise. The SA-
designations were of the launch vehicle. The AS- designations were of
the whole space vehicle
So SA-506 was the designation of the launch vehicle for Apollo 11
(comprising S-IC-6, S-II-6, S-IVB-506, S-IU-506 and SLA-14). Add to
that the spacecraft (CM-107, SM-107 and LM5) and you got the full stack
which was designated AS-506.
