Anyone here a user of the joyousness that is OS X

I'm looking for a cool astronomy program, something like SkyMap Pro for
Windows. I did use to have the student edition of The Sky but that was
a Classic app and tended to run pretty slow. I like Xephem but to run
it I need X11 and it doesn't look the prettiest, even though feature
wise its pretty awesome.

Just wondering if anyone had any good recommendations. I'm in love with
Octave/GnuPlot for programming, just looking for something nice and
visual.

Depending on what you want it for, try these: -

XEphem (the only free real planetarium program I've found)
Celestia
Stellarium
EquinoX (Shareware)

There's probably others that I've forgotten to mention.

Starry Night runs on OS X. All versions are paid for and expensive for
the higher level ones but the backyard version is what I've used since
moving from a PC with SkyMap.
