Default Turkish eclipse

Jeremy,
I'm off to Side on the 28th, booked it a year ago!
Got a week in a 5* just N of Side. I believe we are just about on the
centre line :-) Can't remember the name off hand. Something like Paloma
Perissia. The only thing that mattered was location. No need to leave the
hotel. At least if we are clouded out we have a nice hotel to enjoy.
Turkey has a late start to the season and some attractions/restaurants etc
might be closed. The weather is my main concern. That end of the Med can be
very unsettled at that time of year. I hope to do a bit of Scuba while
there but finding cente open might be difficult.

I went to Bulgaria for the '99 eclipse. Made an excellent choice of resort
and made a short journey to a headland right on the centre line. I hope Side
delivers the goods.

Hi all,

So - I've got my flight booked and a hotel in Side, Turkey ready for
the eclipse. Is anyone else here going along?

Side is supposed to be almost right on the centre line of the eclipse.
I'd be interested in any opinions of where exactly to go for the event.
I imagine there'll be quite a few other astronomy geeks around this
area. Is there a public event organised for the day? I haven't yet
found anything on the web.

cheers

Jeremy
