Correct. Take a look at the recent orbital imaging of the Pathfinder site
by the MGS camera: there is a *tiny* feature, looking just like any other
rock, which can be inferred to be the Pathfinder lander only because it's
in *exactly* the right place. The terrain around Viking 2 is so close to
featureless that it can't be located that precisely, not now that it's
long since coated with dust.
