I'm thinking about getting my first telescope and have seen lots of good
press on the net for the Skywatcher Explorer 130m as a reasonable
beginners telescope.

However, as I've never used one before, ideally I'd like to visit
somewhere where I can see one in action and get some more detailed advice

Does anyone know anywhere in the Derby/Staffordshire area where I could
perhaps see one of these before buying - I've had a quick look on Yell.com
but haven't been able to identify any shops locally that might stock this
or similar?

Any other advice or ideas for a newbie welcomed too.

Sorry can't help with a local dealer but found this on the web

They have the scope on special at the moment for £140 + £8 postage, about
the best I can find for a new 130.
