1) Warhol IS a well known raving lunatic, one of the worst on usenet, and
is quite mentally disturbed.
2) Removing oil and/or fluids from the ground causes only minimal, local
earthquakes (never more than magnitude 4). This has been studied for many
years. It does, however, cause local to regional subsidence due to
formation compaction after fluid extraction.
3) Fluids (including naturally occurring petroluem) weaken rock, not
strengthen it, and can cause failure along faults. Removing fluids from
the ground generally reduce the chances of fault failure. Injecting fluids
into the ground has been shown to trigger small earthquakes. This has been
clearly demonstrated in the laboratory and in the field and is a well known
phenomenon. If extracting petroleum from the ground could cause damaging
earthquakes, we would see them occurring in Texas, Oklahoma, and along the
Gulf coast, where oil extraction has been on-going for decades. The fact
is that the worst earthquakes (i.e., north Pakistan, and near Banda Aceh)
occur in regions where no significant oil exploration or extraction is
occurring.
