That's clear and sunny nights I imagine.
An excellent idea - and congratulations to PPARC for the grant.


Well, viewing solar prominences and the chromosphere, yes. Viewing the
corona, I very much doubt, unless PPARC supplied an extra moon to create
artificial eclipses. A sea level city site near a coast is not ideal for
coronagraphs (which does not seem to be on offer).

Viewing the sun during the clear nights sounds dubious also.

Press officers often need to be educated.
