I'll try this again at ISO800 sometime and try dark frame subtraction as
the
image is still a little noisy - If the camera comes back from repairs..
Tearing the IR filter out met with disaster :-((

what happened chris?

The Canon has very little response in the H-Alpha region. I dismantled the
camera and replaced the IR filter with clear glass. This bit went OK. While
replacing the ribbon cables I damaged one of them. Imagine selotape embedded
with copper conductor/wires. That's what the ribbon cables are like. Trying
to re-install them is a really tricky bit of work as they bend alot and
appear quite fragile. The camera powered up but repeatedly tried to take
pictures. On inspection one of the ribbon cables appeared to have a severed
conductor. Rather than make matters worse by trying to strip the camera
further I sent it in for repair. I should be contacted with a price over the
next couple of days.

I have been thinking about thie IR filter, but as I want to use the camera for daytime
photography as well, I think I will not touch it.

Regards (tot siens)

that should be "tot ziens" Chris
