Others just back from Iraq tell very different stories.


There are lots of stories. We only seem to get the bad news, though.

It's unwise to
rely too heavily on a single report, even (perhaps especially) if it is
telling you what you want to hear. Iraq is a sizable country and any
particular soldier is seeing only a very small piece of it.

In the same vein, it is no secret that the US media generally do a lousy
job and have serious tunnel vision. At least a partial answer to that is
not to rely exclusively on *US* media. For example, read The Economist
rather than Time Magazine (not only is it British rather than American,
it's also a whole lot better).


Yes, but some of the best reporting is from people like Michael Yon.
