Night of the 16th
I set up on the corner by 7pm as the moon
was well up. It wasn't long when a guy
came over to have a look see, he had been
out at the Race track and he called over
two other guys to see the moon.
It was slow until 9:30, that's when a whole
bunch showed up, for the next hour I had
people viewing both Jupiter ( good view
tonight) and the moon, I couldn't keep
count, but I'd guess at lest 8 to 10 people
where around. The best one that made me feel
good and proved the design of my mount, and
that was of the older lady that was with one
group, she was small in size and at first
she couldn't see Jupiter, only the moon, so
then I pulled over my folding chair and had
her sit on it, I then rotated the ota around
so the EP was at her level looking a bit upward.
She was able to see Jupiter for the first time
in her 80+ year life ( other than photos ).
When FF's lights went out some of the ones there
stayed and asked about stars and I showed one to them.
One man asked about getting a scope so I gave
him my card with the FAQ web address on it.
So I didn't get home until close to 11pm, but it
was a good night, and I showed images of the moon
using my meade 25mm, my UO 12mm and even my orion
6mm, everyone went away happy! and I do think I'll
see some returning later on too.
