Strange Days in Rosamond
Tuesday 7/11/05

The day started off with me needing
something to eat besides my own fixings,
so I had my first ( and last for this
month ) meal up at the Skillet.

Came home feeling better, I had also
stopped and gotten a pack of letter
stencals and two cans of white paint.
On monday I had cut one of the two sheets
of plywood in 1/2 to make my new signs.
I painted them white and then found the
letters where to big, so I tried to
paint the letters free hand, ( a tagger
I'd never make ). Big mistake, so I just
used up the rest of the red paint to cover
the sign and I went up and got the self stick
on letters and made the sign from them.

While doing this, as I drove up 20th St I see
this ford truck/camper sitting on a
empty lot and on it's front window is the
word " FREE ", so with the help of the park
owner, we towed it down here, it now
sits on the otherside of the wall and I've
got a project to work on. ( long project too).

Anyway, everything was done by about 5pm, so I
fixed myself dinner, rested a bit and then
loaded the old mad max machine up and by
8pm was set up on the corner. Up to 9pm things
where slow, that's when one group came over
and they got to see the moon and Jupter.

Things didn't really pop until about 10 to 10,
that's when about a total of 10 people showed
up to see what I was viewing. One guy I gave
my TBFAQ card too, as he said he had just gotten
started in astronomy and didn't have a telelscope
yet, so I gave him a fast run down of what the dob
was like and for him to read the FAQ.

Two teens where there, one had seen me since his
yound days and had never stopped because of no
money, I showed him the moon and he was totaly
awestruck. One man had never looked threw a scope
before, I think I could have sold him the scope!

Just about this time, the FF lights went out and
ofcouse it went from just barly seeing mag 1 to
seeing mag 2 ( or more ) that fast and it was near
10:30 befor the last ones had left. Had enough change
in the cup to get 2 gals on gas in the old machine.
