So, Sam.... What does this mean? I know that the navigation message
contains the information about the accumulated leap seconds. I even
saw the "A leap second is coming!" part of the navigation message. I
don't know if my old yellow Etrex handles this warning properly. It's
never SEEN a leap second So are there any neat experiments to do at
7PM EST New Year's Eve?
And has anyone told the people wo run Big Ben in London?
I watched the last leap second get added in
with Trimble and Garmin receivers.
Date: 1997/07/02
I was watching the Trimble ScoutMaster against my HP-48SX which
showed it to be about 0.7 seconds behind... then without any
real indication of the extra second... all of a sudden it was
about 1.7 seconds behind.... which is exactly what it was
supposed to do. I was just disappointed I didn't see 23:59:60
displayed.
It stayed right with WWV.... but I'm not sure how long it took
to correct... maybe a couple of seconds.... next time I should
video the sequence to sort it out better.

Obviously a prious leap second, but not the last in 1999.
