In todays world of economics now, unions are far weaker than they were
in the early 20th century. They do not have the leverage as they did
80 yrs ago. Unions can no longer use the threat of prolonged strikes
to gain higher wages and benefits. It now is more of a cooperation
between the two. Labor unions now are linked economically at the hip
with the companies they were once a foe of.
