thad:
FYI, your name is misspelled "Daoud" on your website; near the bottom,
just below the hit counter and above the "Made with a Mac", is found:

"Tell Daoud you visited!"

Just curious: why "Davoud" instead of the "David" in davidillig.com?

I'm a sort of linguist/translator by vocation (retired) and avocation.
"Daoud" and "Davoud" are both variations on "David."

The web page at http://www.davidillig.com/daoud.shtml explains, but
I'll save you a trip, if you like. The page reads, inter alia, "Other
variations on David include 'Daffydd,' 'Daibhead,' 'Daibhi,' 'Davis,'
'Davoud,' 'Dawes,' 'Dawson (Davidson),' 'Dewi,' and 'Dovid.'"

"Daoud" is Arabic; "Davoud" is more common in Iran and Afghanistan.
"Daffydd" and "Dewi" are Welsh, "Daibhead" and "Daibhi" are Celtic
(that's pronounced "Keltic," by the way,) and Dovid is Yiddish.

Thanks for visiting my miserable little web site.

Davoud, etc.
