After some research, I'm nearly commited to buying an XT10i.

Recently
I ran across some information that suggests that the XT10 is made by
two different suppliers: G.S and Synta?? Does anyone know about this
and whether it's something to be watchful of in making a purchase?

Many thanks!!!

So far as I know , the XT10i is Synta. The older XT10 was originally
made by Guan Sheng, but is now made by Synta (for Orion). The Guan
Sheng version is still alive in Hardin's Deep Space Hunter series.
The XT10i has the built in DSC encoders, and has a port to plug in
Orion's DSC display reader. The XT10 is all manual.
