May I ask someone this: what part of Earth is increasing in temperature
That should be the question to those who are seeing Chicken Little
chirping aobut stuff falling.
A quarter of the world's coral has already been destroyed by warmer
water but it is the Arctic that is the greatest indicator of climate
change. The Arctic is warming at twice the rate of the rest of the
world. More than 20% of the permanent ice cap in the Arctic has
disappeared in less than 30 years and the Inuit are seeing (southern)
plants and insects they had never seen before like wasps and
dragonflies. The ice is 40 percent thinner than it was in 1970 and is
expected to disappear completely by 2070!!!
Glaciers in the Rocky Mountains of British Columbia diminished by 10
percent during the summer of 2003 - ONE summer to lose 10% - that's a
direct threat to the fresh water drinking supplies for parts of Western
Canada which, at its current rate of melt, will be gone before 2020.
