Default The Sir Arthur Clarke Awards

Have you been impressed, intrigued or inspired by
something to do with space exploration?
Hollywood has the Oscars - The UK has the Arthurs. 2005 sees the
inaugural Sir Arthur Clarke awards.

Each year, there are various awards for the best in film, TV, the
theatre and music. Now there is a new award, designed to recognise
and reward the best in UK space research and exploration. The Sir
Arthur Clarke awards will be presented at a gala dinner at this
year’s conference of the British Rocketry Oral History Programme, to
be held at the prestigious Charterhouse School in Surrey, England.
The BROHP conference will run from 31 March to 2 April, attracting 300
participants from around the world to hear about the past, present and
future of the UK’s involvement in space research and exploration. The
award ceremony will be the climax of a selection process from
categories covering activities by individuals, teams and
organisations in UK Space Science and the UK Space industry.

The award categories a
• Best Corporate Contribution
• Best Individual Contribution
• Best Student Contribution
• Best Space Reporting
• Achievement in Education
• Best Presentation:
o TV and radio
o Film
o Written
• Outreach Award for the Public Promotion of Space
• Inspiration Award

Nominations are invited in each category and can be submitted by
anyone. All you need to do is go to the website at
http://uk.geocities.com/brohp2005 then send an e-mail with your name,
the name of nominee, the category and a brief statement explaining
their choice to Multiple nominations can be
submitted, within and across different categories, but these are not
votes. The intention is simply to produce a list of nominees.
Nominations close at midnight, Monday 28 February.

Here is your chance to have your say, to help promote and reward UK
space achievement. Please submit your nominations and do what you can
to spread the word.
