Very interesting, thanks for posting it.
BTW: Meade haters, here's the quote from
"Gerry Hogan, majority shareholder in Coronado and wife of the
founder"
"Several companies have courted Coronado, but Meade - traded on Nasdaq
under the symbol MEAD - is by far the best fit, Hogan said.
"In the seven months of discussion with them, it became very apparent
that Meade shared our integrity in terms of professionalism, quality
and a desire to broaden the hobby," she said.
Hogan said she and her husband loved the business, and selling it was
not easy, though both knew it was the right decision."
READ IT AND WEEP IF YOU LIKE.
Will the $32,000 Meade (coronado) scope have rust-prone screws?
Will Meade/Coronado now shut down all competitors with patent claims?
Is that what they mean by "wanting to broaden the hobby"?

well, she says somewhere in the article that "we know how to make solar
filters better, but Meade knows how to make telescopes better".
Of course what she means is that Meade knows how to design a product for a
certain quality level (poor quality is a certain quality level and can be
designed in, and not a result of poor assembly work) and for a specified
cost.
Translating this mumbo jombo into plain English, it would appear that Meade
might keep the Coronado filter technology but redesign or replace the
Coronado scopes with Meade designs , in order to cut cost.
