NASA ASTRONAUT ANNOUNCES "SPACE CHALLENGE"

On Oct. 13, from 12 - 1 pm EDT, NASA Astronaut Patrick G. Forrester, NASA
Chief Education Officer Dr. Adena Williams Loston and Paul McFall,
president, Pearson Scott Foresman publishing company, will announce an
out-of-this-world alliance between NASA and Pearson Scott Foresman,
publisher of preK-6 educational books.

Forrester, Dr. Loston and Mr. McFall will demonstrate the "Science in Space
Challenge," a first of its kind venture with NASA and Pearson providing
U.S. students and teachers the opportunity to propose a science and
technology investigation. Two classrooms will get a chance to see
astronauts conduct their science projects in space.

The "Science in Space Challenge" is part of an ongoing partnership through
which NASA and Pearson Scott Foresman seek to spark students' imaginations,
encourage interest in space exploration, and enhance elementary and
secondary science curricula throughout the U.S.

The announcement will take place at the Florida Science Supervisors and
Florida Department of Education's luncheon at the Doubletree Hotel (near
Universal Studios), Seminole A room, located at 5780 Major Blvd, Orlando,
Fla. Media are invited to attend. Those interested in interviews with the
speakers will have opportunities following the announcement.
