Default Over 600 Pictures of Spiral Galaxies

Dear CCD-imaging readers,

I created a website, http://www.spiral-galaxies.com to help CCD
astrophotographers plan (better pick) the galaxies they want to
photograph.

At the moment there are over 600 pictures as well as around 100 colour
images of ALL spiral galaxies larger than 3 minutes of arc for both
the Northern and Southern Hemispheres.

I used images from 10 carefully selected, experienced
astrophotographers (with their permission).

All this is carefully categorized by constellation and by most
convenient month to photograph the galaxy.

As a convenience for CCD astrophotographers, I arranged the galaxy
pictures by angular size within constellation.

EACH image was carefully compressed to make it fast to download / view
over the Internet. The images you see here will

download around 7 times faster than ANYWHERE else, since I work with a
56K dial-up modem, upload and download times are important to me.
Picture quality degraded less than 3 percent (I have no way to measure
this), but expect to be impressed.

You may read more about this website's purpose at
http://www.spiral-galaxies.com/background.html

You are welcome to post your suggestions in sci.astro on how I could
make this website more useful - specifically for CCD
astrophotographers.

( Google does not support posting this message to
sci.astro.ccd-imaging )

Thanks

Alwyn Botha
