In any event, what's the best $100 that YOU ever spent on this hobby?

And why?

I didn't spend it, but it was probably the $100 my parents spent when $100
would still buy a respectable Tasco scope (4.5" reflector on a GEM). And
yes, the Tascos of that day were not the junk they are today. They weren't
Zambuto mirror scopes, but it kept me happy on many a night!

As for the best $100 I spent, I went back and forth but finally settled on
the first several years of S&T subscription to guide me in using that scope.
