Martin,

The SheffieldAS is holding a Sheffield city centre event, find out all
about it at www.venustransit.org.uk and www.sheffieldastro.org.uk . We have
just got a new Solarview 50 h-alpha, will have white light telescopes and
everything will be fed onto our website. BBC Radio Sheffield will be
transmitting the breakfast show from the event and we have a big marquee
with lots of astronomical happenings going on.

Please join us if you can

Are any of the AS doing anything for the Transit?

I know Scarborough and District AS are releasing 122 Pigeons and South
Tyneside College Planetarium are holding a 'Transit Breakfast' on the day
and the Sheffield Venus Transit group are holding a Marquee event for the
public in the centre of Sheffield.

The SoLAGS (South Lincs Astronomical & Geophysical Society in Spalding
are
holding a public viewing at the Sir Halley Stewart playing fields, from
8am
to 12.30pm. We have invited all the local schools to send student who are
interested and expect many members of the public to turn up. We are also
planning on having a camera connected to a scope and projected on a
screen
for the small, disabled and passers by. We should have at least 8 various
size scopes and some Bino's.

Oh Zeus, can you provide clear skies for us all please? What can we offer
you?!!
