Hi all,
Simple question: whats the difference between an EQ1, EQ2, etc mounts?
cheers
Hi Kevin,
Basically as you go up the numbers you are buying more stability (a key
requirement for any mount) and load carrying capacity. Additionally the Eq1
has only limited slow motion adjustment in Declination so can only be
motorised in one axis.
IMO there is a trend for commercial scope kits to be undermounted. If you
can afford it you will not regret going up one mount size from the minimum
offered. If you want to do astrophotography then sell your children/granny
to buy the beefiest mount you can
