Weekend Report

Friday the 9th of April, was not the best of nights,
in the west Venus played tag with the tops of clouds
until it was so low that they covered it full time.

Jupiter was clear most of the time, but it was just
not that good of a view, while the surface winds
where not hard, but just enough to make the viewing
poor. Not many stopped by, a few teens kind of stopped
but more walked on by.

Saterday night was better, no winds and very few clouds.
still not a lot of anyone stopping by, a few did, one
man/wife who had just moved to Rosamond stopped and they
said they'll stop by more offen. Had some kids from down
the side street walk up and get a view of Jupiter, Saturn
and one star.

Sunday, was another story, being easter the ice cream join
was closed! and most of their lights where off, I had
skys that where dark enough to even find M42. From just
after I set up to almost 10pm I had people pulling in while
driving by and unloading kids to see the sky. So not only
did they get to see the planets, but at lest one DSO was
seeable to them too. If I had a EQ mounted scope I could
have polar alined it as even the old North Star was seeable.

I think some people where surprised to see me set up on
sunday night.

Doesn't look like I'll be seeing RTMC this year, maybe I can
aim for 2005. :
