Hi Odysseus I still don't know how deep is Jupiter atmosphere. We can
say the Earth's is 25 miles deep.Jupiter's atmosphere can't be to heavy
having so much hydrogen and helium.in proportion to the earth's
atmosphere, that has really none of both. Still don't know why it has
such a fast spin, and I think this fast spin needs more thought. Bert
Most of Jupiter's atmosphere is at a very high pressure, more than
making up for the lower molecular weights of He and H_2 as compared
to the earth's N_2 and O_2. The NASA website I cited considers the
"surface" to be where the pressure is 1 bar, close to the standard
pressure on the Earth's surface. The planet's average density is
about twice that of water, so most of the gas is much 'thicker' than
air, denser in fact than most of the liquids we encounter in everyday life.
